gs_old_320wGoodSound! was founded in the late '90s by Marlon Ben Feld, a musician and audiophile who was also a student at the time. Feld recognized the importance of music for the common man. From the start, GoodSound!'s mandate has been to be a highly useful resource for audiophiles and music lovers looking to buy a great sound system for an affordable price. In 2001, GoodSound! became part of the SoundStage! Network, the world's largest group of specialty audio/video online publications and resources. The core concepts that GoodSound! started with remained the same.

GoodSound! ran successfully within the SoundStage! Network for almost ten years with little change other than a couple of site redesigns to freshen things up. But in early 2010, we knew that it was not only time again to change GoodSound!'s look, but also to improve the functionality and broaden its editorial scop. In April 2010, a brand-new GoodSound! site was launched that met all those goals. In terms of the content, we have expanded beyond simply stereo and into home theater, which is more indicative of today's buyers and also brings the core GoodSound! mandate to a much larger audience. That's why one of GoodSound!'s new slogans is: Music and Movies for Everyone.

GoodSound! is now bigger and better than ever, but the heart and soul stay the same as when it began: an editorial focus on high-performance audio equipment that almost anyone can afford. Furthermore, even though GoodSound! is bigger and better, we still want readers to have access to our past to be able to read earlier articles. You can still visit the original GoodSound! site as it appeared in April 2010 when it was officially archived by the using the link below. You'll find almost ten years of reviews, features, and more -- the stuff that brought us to where we are today. Enjoy!

GoodSound! as of April 2010.
